The child care center ” Los Tres Brazos” aims to provide underprivileged children with an access to a broad and good education. The children that the volunteers will work with are between the ages of 3 to 6 years. However, the place also has an Elementary School for children between 7 to 14 years old, in which the volunteers can take part.
The families of the children are from the poorest parts of the neighbourhood and often lack the most basic services like necessary health services for the children, or sufficient nutritious food. Moreover, there is a lot of violence in the area and within the children’s homes. The place is run by Catholic nuns and a group of volunteers.

Volunteers are expected to collaborate in all daily activities at school and to monitore and help during all daily activities which are not class related like shower time, meal time, outside activities, etc. As well you can choose to work with children in the Elementary School, teaching them basic levels of math, music, computer, grammar, geograhy and English. If you have medical knowledge, you can also work as the nurse’s assistant.

The participant will take part in an arrival orientation, a mid stay orientation and an end of stay camp. In these camps, important subjects will be discussed, such as the relationship and development with hostfamily, project, and community.
