On Saturday, April 14, 2018, AFS Switzerland held its Annual General Assembly in Zurich. The diversity of our organization was mirrored by the attendees: loyal donors, long-serving volunteers, newbies and also host students – all facettes of the AFS world were represented. We witnessed enthusiastic contributions by the volunteers, reflecting our move from a volunteer-based to volunteer-driven organization.
While long-serving and very deserved Iris Reber (Vice Chair, on AFS SUI Board since 2012) has stepped down, we have a new Board Member with Carla Kaufmann, a returnee from YPsc in Japan in 1997. Carla is an entrepreneur in various areas and will definitely make sure that AFS Switzerland will not run out of ideas. We welcome her warmly to the AFS Board community.
Suzanne Weigelt has been re-elected as Chair, and our new Vice Chair is Lisa Drössler, a former AUT returnee and volunteer, since long engaged in one of our most important chapters and elected to the Board in 2016.
The event was roundend off with dinner and the AFS Spring Party, musically accompanied by Robin Müller and his band – a perfect way to enjoy this lovely spring evening in one of the hipper upcoming areas in Zurich.
All our best
Chair of the Board
